Where We Grew

Becoming “technitive.”

Over the years, Colin McDonald has been responsible for strategic process development, hardware design strategy, and cinema technology  education. He has collaborated with engineers in support of ongoing advancements to digital production. These products include 3D camera rigs, the SiliconImaging SI2K camera, the Panavision DXL camera, and on-set HDR workflow solutions. He also helped develop an ecosystem that ties on-set workflow to editorial, DI, and archiving. Colin draws from his film production experience as a Director of Photography, a BFA in Film Production and Minor in Advertising from Chapman University, film theory training from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and an electrical engineering course from Arizona State University to design and support these cinema products and processes.

Parallel to Colin’s passion for technology, he maintains his artistic endeavors by producing, directing, and shooting narrative content.  This intersection with technology and creativity, hence the term  “becoming technitive,” has often aligned him with innovative groups looking to push the boundaries of storytelling and the science behind it.

For Colin,  it’s through collaboration and continuous education that innovation can be driven forward.
